damn it's been a while. and i wish i could say i was out saving the world or something, but sadly i haven't accomplished much really.
i went to YU to visit...well, EVERYBODY. And in those three weeks i was a mess of tears and snot on more than one occasion. None of them happy. You have to understand that these people are my family, and i love them more than anything. But the sad fact is they;re
crazy. To those of you whose relatives live here on this side of the
Atlantic, and you go to see them on Thanksgiving or Easter or whatever holiday, you don't understand. And i very sinerely envy you.
First, we were at my aunts house, where every minute of every day is pure pandemonium. And they have two boys, who - through no fault of thier own, but rather that of their parents - are incredibly spoiled and just generally unmannered. The thing that bothers me the most there, is the complete lack of family atmosphere. Or maybe i'm just too used to getting hugs from my parents, and hearing compliments from them.
Then, there's my grandma on my mom's side. One of the most emotionally selfish peolpe in the world. She would give you everything down to the clothes off her back in a second. But she makes considerate people who happen to have stopped to listen to her, feel unsurrmountable guilt for some stupid reason that lacks complete logic. It's her gift...or curse, and it has left my mom close to breakdown several times.
My dad's mom is just a little on the lazy side, and is incredibly biased. She used to hit my cousins for reasons not apperent to me, simply because she liked my brother and i better. Though from her i inherited my perfect spine...and my stubborness. Just thank god i didn't inherit her
nose. lol
All this doesn't mean that everybody there is a psychcopath, just the older generation. The rest of them are actually pretty cool, they just happen not to be realated to me specifically.
As a souvenir my mom bought me mayonnaise. Yup. Best shit in the world, i swear.
